EU citizens do not need a work permit to film or work in France , see www.welcometofrance.com/en/do-you-need-a-work-permit). British citizens can work without a work visa for up to 90 days but cannot exceed more than 180 days in a calendar year of combined travel in Europe.
Please note we are unable to assist with visas. The US Embassy no longer gives VISA advice to third parties. Applicants must send questions to their local Embassy (local state).
Non-Europeans on projects of 3 months or less do not need a work permit
We do not advise on Visas simply because it is your home embassy which must advise you and in general they will only discuss with applicant.
For Television Factual ents and Documentary between 5 – 10 working days. It can be quicker depending on the specific nature of your shoot, please contact us for bespoke advice.
For Fiction shoots and Branded content or Commercial allow 15 working days for a permit for crews over 10. For crews under ten 5-10 working days can suffice depending on the nature of your project. Please ask us for specific advice.
For Feature films the bare minimum is 15 working days but in reality for good practice at least 2-3 months planning is advised, and ideally 6 months notice or more to obtain tricky or hard to book locations.
Photo shoots (purely photographic) do not require permits for crews under 10 people.
How long is a piece of string!
It depends whether your permit is on public, municipal, or private land.
For private locations fees can be anywhere from 100€ to skys’s the limit!
For municipal locations, street filming is often free of charge, whereas filming in sports facilities can carry a “price on application” charge which tends to not exceed a few hundred Euro.
Parks and Gardens depends on duration of occupation and crew size but starts at 72€ and climbs with scale of project. Application process is strict and a minimum of 15 working days is preferred by the relevant authorities.
For private locations such as houses, apartments etc. prices generally start at 500€ and average around 2000-5000€ per day for a good interior location. We do negotiate the best deals for our clients, and we can work to any budget, big or small. With smaller prices sometimes come aesthetic sacrifices but we will strive to find you solutions.
